Campus fire safety has become an important issue across the nation. Now in its sixth year, governors across the nation are signing proclamations designating September as Campus Fire Safety Month in their states and resolutions have been introduced in both the U.S. Senate U.S. House of Representatives. Schools across the country will be holding events to educate and inform students about what they can do to help ensure they are not the victim of a preventable fire.

There is a lot more information available at Campus Firewatch (www.campus-firewatch.com)

For National Campus Fire Safety Month this year we are focusing on three programs...

A new version of the landmark, online fire safety training program is being released on August 18. You can read more about it and how you can use it on your campus.

Campus Fire Safety Community Service Project This is a project being run by the Michael H. Minger Foundation to engage students in doing fire safety community service projects in partnership with their local fire departments. Read more about it.

Proclamations Now in its sixth year, governors and the U.S. Congress have been issuing proclamations each year. You can check on the current states that have issued proclamations, download them and read the letter that was co-signed by parents who have lost children in campus fires that was sent to all 50 governors. In addition, you can download model language for the proclamations as well.
